Dear Mikko,
"Smile" was an instrumental composed by Charlie Chaplin inan age when silent movies were still big. It wasn't given lyrics until many years later. Here it is performed by Michael Jackson with scenes from Chaplin as "The Tramp."

Smile on yksi perimmäisiä lauluja sarjassa "älä anna maailman polkea sinua alas." Loppujen lopuksi... huomaat, että elämä on yhä arvostettavaa, jos vain jaksat hymyillä.  

Olet varmaan kuullut tämän laulun tuhat kertaa, satojen taiteilijoiden laulamana. Mutta tiesitkö, että musiikin on säveltänyt CharlieChaplin? Nykyaika oli hänen vuoden 1936 elokuvansa, jossa hänen nimikkohahmonsa, Tramp, Kulkuri, aivan viimeisen kerran esittää huojuvan pikku kävelynsä.

Lähes 20 vuotta myöhemmin John Turner ja Geoffrey Parsons lopuksi lisäsivät kauniin sanoituksen, NatKing Cole levytti sen, ja me olemme rakastaneet laulua siitä lähtien. Tämä ihana Michael Jacksonin esitys on (joka tiettävästi oli hänen suosikkilaulunsa) tehnyt Chaplinin Trampista, Kulkurista klassikkovideoklipin, kun hän taistelee erilaisten vaikeuksien läpi kunnes palaa kasvot ilosta loistaen, sellaisena kuin vain hän hymyilee.

Smile is one of the ultimate "don't let the world get you down songs." After all...you'll find that life is still worthwhile if you just smile. You've probably heard this song a thousand times, sung by a hundred artists. But, did you know the music was written by Charlie Chaplin? It was for his 1936 movie, Modern Times, in which his signature character, The Tramp, does his wobbly little walk away for the very last time. 

Nearly 20 years later John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons finally added beautiful lyrics, Nat King Cole recorded it, and we've been in love with the song ever since. This lovely performance is by Michael Jackson (reportedly his favorite song) set to classic clips of Chaplin as The Tramp, as he struggles through various difficulties until he lights up his face with gladness as he just smiles.
